Note if you have the MSN toolbar installed (v.1.02) it will crash IE. Uninstall and update. Google Toolbar installed? That can cause issues as well under some conditions.

I'm sure you can understand that because I cannot sit in front of your computer and look at the screen, you have to be careful when describing your problems.

Here's the error msg.
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.5346.5 ModName: mshtml.dll ModVer: 7.0.5346.5 Offset: 00172de3

Traditional advice about mshtml.dll errors points to corrupt caches. Log on as a different admin account, delete the cache of the affected user, and then log back on as the affected user to test.
Out of date, but it gives you an idea of what has happened in the past http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/answers.htm#mshtml

The same thing happens.(The exact same error) About the different admin account. I'm the only one using the laptop and i have only one account. Even if i have other accounts, how do i know where to delete corrupt caches and which one to delete?

Now IE7 only freezes. I downloaded netscape and firefore to cover but they can't do some of the video news site I want to see.
Is there a way to uninstall ie7 and reinstall?
 Signature Beta 2 looks great!

Go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs Make sure Show Updates is checked. Scroll down near the bottom and find IE7 and remove it. It will restore IE6.
If it isn't there go to Start | Run and type the proper one of these commands:
%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2$\spuninst\spuninst.exe (IE7 Beta2, build 5346.5)
%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe (IE7 Beta2 Preview)
If it still doesn't work go to Start | Run and type regedit and press <Enter> Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer Click on Internet Explorer. Right click in the right pane and select New String Value . Name that value InstalledByUser Right click the new value and choose Modify and give it your User Account name Now try to Uninstall IE7 via Add or Remove Programs.
Some software (for example CCleaner) deletes uninstaller directories such as $NtUninstallie7bet2$ (or $NtUninstallie7bet2p$, for IE& Beta2 Preview). If the $NtUninstallie7bet2$ folder is empty, or has been deleted completely, whether by third party software or manually to preserve disk space, you will not be able to remove the Beta 2 Preview via Add/Remove Programs or the commandline. If running System Restore does not resolve the situation for you, then your only choice is to stay with the Preview, or format your PC and install Windows anew. You will not be able to install any future builds of IE7 while Beta 2 Preview is installed, nor will you be able to run a Repair Install of XP

tito - 08 May 2006 03:04 GMT Found it! I had exactly the same error
I guess Google Desktop is not compatible with IE7 tabs, so I disabled web history indexing in Google Desktop's preferences, because I don't need it
Problem solved ;)

I wonder if mircosoft would make goodle desktop competiable with IE7?
Thanks for all your help everyone!

Bottom line: You can leave Google Desktop installed and running, but the "Web history" option must be disabled.

Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE - 13 Jun 2006 22:33 GMT >I have just installed the IE7 and it doesnt seem to start up.it just >crashes [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > it > doesnt seem to work. Go to C:\programfiles\internetexplorer look for ieproxy.dll Move it to C:\windows\sytem32
Now go to Start | Run and Type regsvr32 ieproxy.dll and press <Enter>. Now try launching IE7
If that doesn't do it try disabling Java in Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.

~Captain Morgan~ - 20 Jun 2006 18:29 GMT I think Java is the culprit for me. I had Google Toolbar installed (not desktop) in addition to Java, Quicktime, Adobe etc. and I disabled all add-ons that were "Not verified" and then started adding them back one at a time. I have everything enabled now except for:
Java Plug-in SSVHelperClass
I have the Java 2 Platform and the Sun Java console enabled so I can still see Java embedded stuff in IE and google toolbar and everything else is enabled as well.

I am thankfull to Tito for sharing the hint about Google Desktop. I actually uninstalled it and my computer is not crashing anymore! Thank you so much for sharing. Question: how did you find out about the incompatibility?

Hmm looks like I failed to mention that I never get the "IE7 Crashing" ti I hit an X (closing the window), Internet Explorer works fine otherwise til I close the button
Leonard Grey - 15 Aug 2007 21:18 GMT In a clean install, you begin by erasing the entire hard disk. Is that what you did?
If you erased your hard disk, reinstalled Vista, and IE 7 crashed before you added any other software, then either your copy of Windows is damaged, you made some error while installing Windows, you became infected with a virus or you have a hardware issue.
If IE 7 only started crashing after you added other software, then either your other software is causing IE 7 to crash or you became infected by a virus.
