I have installed IE 7 and now all the web pages that i view have a white
backgound. I have made sure that the accessibility options are all unchecked
and that the color option to use webpage color is check. But i still get a
white background to make it more complicated on the kids' accounts they have
the normal background.

Hi,
First check:
Control Panel> Accessibility Options> Display. Make sure that High Contrast
is not checked. Also click on Settings and uncheck Use Shortcut. That will
disable the Alt+Shift+Print Screen shortcut to High Contrast.

Other possibilities:
Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete files (and
delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often recommended that
the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Then, McAfee Privacy Service has caused problems with display of images.
Disable it, if running.

Disable, as a test, third-party security, privacy, ad-blocking programs. One
of them may be causing this. Once you find the guilty party, try changing
settings.

Turn on the windows Firewall (Control Panel> Windows Firewall) and disable
(as a test) your third-party firewall.

Other possibilities at:
Red X- Pictures do not Show:

283807 - Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer

Hope this helps,
Don

You the man, sank ewe, sank ewe berry mulch. The high contrast setting and
the use shorcut were both selected. Wow, just liking watching the Wizard of
Oz for the first time. I appreciate your prompt and accurate response.

Hi Don,
I tried everything you mentioned. Some web sites appear better (but still
the wrong background colors, or no color at all) except now my wireless
network (from my desktop to my laptop) no longer works.

Any suggestions?

I just got this computer and have been troubleshooting for days.

Thanks. Mary

The high contrast setting and the use shortcut were both selected. Thank you
the problem was solved in minutes.

Right on the Money Big Don.  I had the exact same problem here.  That pesky
Accessibility Option fixed it.

Thank you.

High contrast was my problem.  I have been working on this for 2 days.
Thanks for the help.  Everything is fine now.

Hi She,

Some websites color their backgrounds with an image. Check that you have
allowed images in the Multimedia section on the Advanced tab of Internet
Options. Some firewall software may also block images that come from known
sources of tracking sites. These use a small image that acts like a cookie
and record your visit to a site.

Regards.
