Internet Explorer 7 takes too long to open pages

You probably have the phishing filter activated.  Every time you look at a
new page, IE has to access the database to find if the site has been
previously marked as bad.  This must take a substantial amount of time.  Try
disabling the feature so that it only checks when you choose to for a
particular page.

It is NOT the phishing filter.  That is the first thing I turned off.  Any
new link, new window, or new tab you open takes a minimum of 7 to 10 seconds
to open.  IE6 did NOT have this problem.  In it you would click and you would
immediately get activity.  I should have stuck to the rule - NEVER UPGRADE
ANY MICROSOFT OS OR OS COMPONENT FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS.  Maybe by then they
will have fixed its problems.

And if anyone from Microsoft reads this, please pay close attention to the
vast amount of user discontent for your new mess - IE7.  And fix it BEFORE
you release it!

For all discontented users, simply quit using IE.  Use Firefox instead.
Open source software is much better than Microsoft products in almost all
cases!

Jerod, IE7 has some other features that will slow down lesser systems.  The
other big item I have found that affects system performance (especially when
you don't have a very good video card, is the CLEARTYPE HTML.  If you want to
try disabling that, be sure to go to  Tools->Internet
Options->Advanced->Multimedia.  Uncheck "Always Use Cleartype for HTML".   I
would also recommend that you uninstall any plugins or IE add-ons and
reinstall them including Java VM.  I found it actually works best to
uninstall all these items before the upgrade, and then reinstalling them post
upgrade.

Oh!  I have a 3.06 Ghz P4 with 2 GB of ram.  Its not bleeding edge, but I've
never had performance issues with a browser before.
In the real world, its sooo slow. I don't have time to wait for it. I
immediately turned off Phishing Filter, but that didn't make any difference.
