When configuring Firewall in Norton Internet security 2006 I get the
following error message:
             Internet Explorer Script error
An error has occurred in the script of this page
       Line:    476
      Char:       8
      Error:    'szModify'  is undefined
      Code:     0
      URL:      res://fwui.dll/rule Summary.htm
I am using  IE 7  Beta 3  and I haven't a clue how to rectify this.
 Anybody got any ideas ?

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

The only other thing I can say is that I don't allow anything from Symantec
(Norton) or McAfee into the building here.

Thanks Frank,
That one post answered every single problem that I was having. Still not
sure how to track down the Hi_jacker that checked 5a for me as I always leave
that not checked.
Thanks for the great work !

the problem is explained here:

http://pjondevelopment.50webs.com/blog/2006/01/ie7-sw-2005-follow-up.html

the solution i have posted here:

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=990897&SiteID=17

I have been fixing the dll myself for anyone who emails their niscmnht.dll to me at errorhelp@gmail.com
I will email the fixed file back to u.

As you can see by checking out the second site.. i have fixed it for a few people but symantec wont listen to me about what is causing the problem.  Basically, part of the code in that dll has a section that tests what version of internet explorer you have but it can only check up to version 6. version 7 and you get your error. I have fixed the code and will put it into your dll for you.
