Since the last update my desktop shortcuts will not open. I have re-created
them and the problem still exists.  Any suggestions?

The email address I use for newsgroups is a spam trap and does not get read.

Sandi:  followed this link which is somewhat close to my problem - here it is:

I just installed IE7.  I have a series of  URL icons on my desktop for rapid
access to the sites. They will no longer open IE--IE7 crashes and asks for
an error report.  I have to open IE to the home page vis the standard blue
"E" icon on the taskbar and then click the links on my desktop to
visit the sites.

I have tried accessing the sites with IE running, then saving the sites in
Favorites, making copies of the URL icon from favorites and placing them on
the desktop.
Still no luck.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled !E7 several times?

Thanks.

Jack

I was experimenting with this problem - when I turned off "tabbed browsing"
the problem noted with desktop shortcuts resolved -but of course, why use IE7
if tabbed browsing and it's options aren't available - thought this might  be
a clue as to the bug reported here and in other posts.

any ideas?

Jack

Even my previous post hung up and did not enter properly. My desktop icons
were not working, and at the time of the post I couldn't even access the link
to the solutions page you had posted. But I have fixed my problem of desktop
icons not working by going into the internet settings and changing the tabs
option to either Open in New Window or Let IE Decide, rather than Open in New
Tab.

Now I just hope this message posts correctly....
