OK, I found how to fix it:
1. Right click the desktop and select "nView Properties".
2. Select "Applications" tab.
3. Click "Enhancements..."
4. Uncheck "Add Internet Explorer double-right and Shift-left click
extension (Opens links in a new window on the display of your choice.)"
5. Click "OK" and "OK" again.
This might be a useful Knowledge Base article.
Thanks,
Greg.

OK I cant figure out how to fix this while keeping the program running.
I have a nvidia geforce 4 mx. After I click on the applications tab,
i do not have any options to select, and i could not find 'enhancements
anywhere else.

The product documentation states: "CTRL+click: Open links in a new tab in the
background", but offers no suggestions as to how to perform discontiguous
selections of list items now that the only available method has been removed.
Discontiguous selection is a vital piece of functionality for many business
web sites.
MS, when do we get a fix or workaround?

I agree. This is a major problem, but apparently incorporated into the
design of IE7.
The Quick Refernce guide for IE7
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/about/quickreference.mspx) states
that "CTRL+left mouse button = Open link in new background tab." This is
contrary to the standard function CTRL+left click = select multiple
files/options in Windows and assumed to be in effect at multiple websites.
With WIndows XP and IE6, CTRL+left click still functions normally on my
computers, but in IE7 CTRL+left click opens a new window and makes it
impossible to use websites that require users to make multiple selections
within their predefined menus.
I have installed the "User Agent String Utility" recommended by Microsoft to
try to provide a mechanism to emulate IE6 while leaving IE7 installed.
However, since "CTRL+left mouse button = Open link in new background tab" is
a defined functionality of IE7, the string utility does not correct this
problem.
Why would Microsoft redefine this standard shortcut? There is no way
millions of websites can design their operations to meet the special
requirements of IE7. If Microsoft support staff are monitoring these posts,
please explain changing a standard keyboard function solely for use in IE7.
How can you override this functionality? Are there plans to correct this
error?

Rabid....I did not have the "Enhancements" option either. However, I did
have an "Application Extensions" option that contained the option Greg
mentioned above. Hope this helps.

Greg & Rabid,
I love you! And thank you. I work in Real Estate and we deal with
CTRL-Left clicks DAILY to select non-contigious options such as cities, price
levels, etc, and have been CRIPPLED by the IE7!! I disabled nvidia tonight
(will work at just disabling the one feature when I can find those tabs....)
and the problem is fixed! I have over 500 agents in my company that will
very much appreciate this fix! You ROCK!

I'm also having this same problem and wanted to add that this
functionality works correctly on one of my computers, but not on
another. I have Windows Server 2003 + IE7 at work and it does not work
when using Ctrl + Click while my laptop running XP + IE7 does still
work correctly. Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Greg, THANK YOU. I've been searching the web for days trying to fix this. I
thought this was an IE bug and was getting very irritated. Thank you so much
for sharing.

I just have one difference on my screen:
After "Applications" tab, click "Application Extensions" button at the
bottom -- I didn't have "Enhancements".
Thanks, that did fix my problem also!
