The suggested fix does not work.  I appears this is something the Microsoft
has to fix in oder for IE7 to work work correctly.

Hi,
It appears it doesent work with XP home.
There is a new post with regvalues to add instead, don't know if it works
since I've never worked with home edition or dont have access to it and can
try for myself.
Good luck!

Regards Stefan

it is directing to the customize site, untill you do that, it will continue, after you can direct to different home page.

Is there a way to get around this or change a registry setting to not do
this?  I have a bunch of machines on an "internal" (air gap) network and IE
ignores the homepage setting.

Make sure scripting is not disabled.

If that doesn't fix it, save the part between the lines below and paste into
Notepad.  Save as Runonce.reg

---------------------Runonce.reg--------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001
"RunOnceComplete"=dword:00000001

-----------------------------------------------------

Right click Runonce.reg and choose Merge.

To change all Windows users at once use

---------------------Runonce2.reg--------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001
"RunOnceComplete"=dword:00000001

OK . . . I set everything to script in tool/internet options/security/,
copied the material btwn the lines into a file runonce.reg, saved, right
clicked on readonce.reg, and chose merge.  I got the diagnostic (shortened):

"Cannot import runonce.reg . . . file is not a registry script.  You can
only import binary resgistry files . . ."

What now  . . . ?

Did you copy it from Golden's message or mine?
If from Golden's message it will fail unless you remove the quote
characters.
