Everything is anti-aliased now (i.e. "smooth") and I don't like it!!!
There's no option to turn it off . . . and it even messes up my email as
well.  I assume they did this to make the zoom feature work better, but they
should allow for it to be turned off!

Sure there is:

Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Multimedia -> ClearType

Thanks . . . but MS shouldn't have this as the default option since it isn't
now (unexpected) and people who want their fonts to look like this likely
already have this option setup in their desktop appearance preferences.

Sorry, but I though all  Windows applications should inherit whatever the
user has selected in the "Control Panel / Display Properties / Appearance /
Effects / Smooth Edges of Screen Fonts"... Does anyone know why do all other
application behave like this except IE7????

Your preferences will only be used when the content provider doesn't
use an override.

If you don't want to allow this you can use an Accessibility option.
(Tools, Options, Accessibility, Ignore font styles...)

Dear Robert,

I am trying to follow your path...but see "Folder Options" after I click on
Tools in the Control Panel.  Are you talking about the "Tools" tab in
Microsoft Outlook?

I'm grateful for your help.

Thanks Bernhard, but where do I do this?  I looked in my Microsoft Outlook,
and it's not there....I'm upset because EVERYTHING got changed including
email to this boring font!

Please advise.

Thanks!

YES, I am having the same issue with the fonts, it's not ok with me.  I have
read this post and I hope one of these suggestions will get my fonts back and
get everything back to what it was before vista (LBV).  I am also having
issues with my contacts vs. address book and the autocomplete isn't working.
It defaults to "address book" to look for the contact which nothing is there
because it's all contacts.  :ugh:

Font smoothing is great. It makes modern computers looks different from Win.
98 or older computers. I like font smoothing, I never turn it off!
