There is nothing on that page that can't be controlled elsewhere.  Use the
instructions at this link to get rid of the page, and review the screenshots
to see what you do or don't want turned on. Post back if you require further
advice;

The email address I use for newsgroups is a spam trap and does not get read.

Create both DWORD's under HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main:
RunOnceComplete = 1
RunOnceHasShown = 1

Also clear out history and cookies in the internet options.

And a special thank you for Sandi Hardmeier who has provided the information in the
first place and for her fantastic site on IE7 troubleshooting.

I have not run into the problem described with the initial running of IE7,
but with a host of other pages.  The bottom left status bar item simply says
"done", with nothing displaying on the page, or "error on page" with nothing
displaying.  Especially during internet banking, the "error on page"  shows
up and I cannot complete bill paying, view scans of checks etc.  A huge
frustration.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Harald

Right click the IE7 icon on the desktop and select start with no add ons.
Visit the pages again that you are having problems with - do they work now?

If they do, then you'll have to find out which third party product/s (add
on/s) have
caused the problems by disabling one at a time and restarting IE and testing.

Thanks so much for the suggestion.  Unfortunately, no help.  All I get now is
that this page is asking for add-on.  I have renabled everything that looks
remotely like a "normal" Micrsoft add-on.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks
Harald

Thanks so much for your thoughts and help.  I have corresponded with the
webmasters of the websites that have lost most of their functionality and the
common response is, "This site is not compatible with IE 7, period."  Quicken
also no longer works to do automatic account updates from the internet once
IE 7 is installed.
I have gone back to IE 6 for the moment.

You will find it is caused by a third party popup blocker. Disable the
activex control in IE by clicking on tools select manage add-ons / enable
disable add-ons / add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer disable yor
third party activex feature. Restart IE, fill in page, then re-enable third
party ActiveX control.

I am having the same problem.  I have three users on my computer.  I
installed IE7 as the administrator and it works fine.  However, for the other
two limited accounts, I had to edit the registry to get rid of the blank
"runonce" page with the script error.  I never could get any javascript to
work after that - even google said there was a javascript error on that page.

I tried making the limited accounts administrators, tried removing McAffee,
even tried adding a new admin user after installing IE7, nothing ever would
fix the problem, so I'm back to IE6.
