IE7 Version: 7.0.5730.11 (Final Version)
IE7 Version Release Date: October 18, 2006

== Question ==
Hi everyone. I've noticed that whenever the Adobe PDF toolbar appears while
in IE7, it takes up the whole row just underneath the Address Bar toolbar.
I've been trying to find a way to move the Adobe PDF toolbar (which contains
_one_ icon) such that it can be moved next to the Command toolbar (e.g.,
where you see the Home and RSS icons). Or, even better, I'd like to move the
Command toolbar to the same row where the Adobe PDF toolbar currently sits.

I have tried the following:
- Unchecked the "Lock the Toolbars" option that appears in the Context menu
(right-click on any of the toolbars), and tried to drag the Adobe PDF toolbar
using the little dotted handle on it.

- Activated the Menu toolbar and dragged that toolbar to the same row where
the Adobe PDF toolbar is. This proves that the Adobe PDF toolbar is capable
of sharing it's row with a toolbar at least :). Tried to move the Adobe PDF
toolbar below the the Menu toolbar, but the Adobe PDF toolbar only seems to
want to create its own row for itself.

- Tried to move the Command toolbar in general. It seems it's stuck
permanently next to the tabs.

- Looked in Internet Options, especially under the "Advanced" tab to see if
something could be found there. Nothing found really in terms of toolbar
layout.

- Tried to "Customize Command Bar" (Accessible from Toolbar Context menu),
only allows you to add/remove items. Also discovered that there isn't a way
to add the Adobe PDF toolbar's single icon to the Command Bar itself (perhaps
that would negate the need for the Adobe PDF toolbar itself).

- Searched the Internet Explorer Help menu itself (F1 key). Only explained
what I discovered in the bullet point just above this one.

- Searched this discussion group (microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general)
and used Google using many combinations of the following term set: toolbar
moving IE7 "Final Version" "Adobe PDF" "Command [tool|toolbar]". Not really
much information available.

Now, perhaps in all of this I overlooked something and just happened to not
search for a key term that would grant an answer. Does anyone have any idea
where else I can search or if there is an answer already out there? If so,
could someone please provide a link to the answer (if there is one)?

Thanks for your consideration!

Hi Crystie,

With top & bottom toolbars & commands on left side I think it is very
functional, and as you only see it when you open a PDF file it's never
really
in the way. I did put a link to the "Adobe icon" on far left side by
clicking on it, and dragging icon from address bar to "Links" and renaming
it to "Adobe"

As you know, you can right click on Adobe's toolbar & remove most of it,
however, then it loses a lot of needed functions.

It's a real challenge.

Best regards

Hi Gus,

Thank you for your reply! It's true, the bar does disappear when there isn't
a PDF present. And, your suggestion makes a lot of sense. I'll try that.

If you accidentally got rid of the toolbar, any suggestions on how to get it back? I'm right-clicking all over the place and can't figure it out.

IE7 does not include a PDF toolbar.

Assuming Adobe Acrobat is installed, start here:
