Problems since downloading "new" IE7

I downloaded IE7 beta and everything was working fine.  I received the
automatic update to the "new" IE7 a few days ago, and now I'm having several
problems - quite often when I click on the IE icon to connect to the
internet, the window opens but the screen just freezes and I have to use
ctrl-alt-delete to close it out.  Also, several of my other programs that
used to work no longer work at all.  For instance, my MusicMatch jukebox
doesn't work anymore - I click on it, and...nothing.  Rebooting takes
forever!  I have to manually close down my antispyware, firewall, and some
other running processes have to be ended manually before the reboot takes
place.  Is anyone else having these kinds of issues?  I'm thinking I want my
old IE6 back.  Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

I'm having the exact same problems.  Nothing but trouble since updating IE7
via being told to do so by Windows Updater.  Ugh!  Nothing behaves quite
right after this update.  Like trying to launch IE from a link in Outlook.

I'm re-downloading IE7 to see if this helps.

I think this is a known issue, may have been already answered somewhere else
in this group.

Shut all this stuff down, uninstall your IE7. Get the setup file and
reinstall IE7. And then be careful what security programs you add to the
mix. Frankly, most "security" programs don't add much to security.

No, I'm not and most people don't have. There are known problems with
certain security software, just read the group.

Jeff,
I've had nothing but problems too - luckily it's our backup computer - the
kids computer.  I have to get to everything thru a backdoor.  I don't even
have a taskbar or anything. I spent 4 hours last week on the phone with
microsoft and they can't figure it out.  I've tried everyway to uninstall IE7
to no avail.  I wish I'd never installed it.  I'm ready to throw out the
computer but I have pictures on here that I can no longer access that I need.
Sorry no suggestion - only commiseration.

If nothing works, simply install a second XP on the box and backup your
pictures from there.

I've decided to buy a Mac for Christmas. Dealing with Windows and it's
potential virus problems. This latest bout with IE 7 was the straw that broke
this camel's back.

I'm having exactly the same problem.  Your response was helpful, but where
would the setup file be?  I (like probably everyone) don't have the option of
redownloading IE7 since I can't access my browser.  Thanks.

Uninstall IE7. Can't do? Then please explain your problem with details in a new
thread. Maybe you did already and nobody could help. I don't know, I haven't
seen it.

OK Guys, It's been one week from crash date. System restore got partial
function back. Lost windows media player, microsoft money, system
information, & all internet functions. Tried to uninstall IE7, Got setup
cannot copy file ieeula.chm. System restore brought back limited IE6. Can't
access web pages. Made Google my home page, can find limited access that way.
Auto update still works. Manual want. Installed FireFox and it works better.
This is so complicated i cannot describe all our problems. I have two years
of XP & One care live up dates Don't want to loose those. Dialup Internet
thats SLOW.  Is there any help?  Maby just start over.

Repair your XP system from the setup disk and be careful what programs you
put on it in the future.

Isn't it scary and totally rediculious that now we have to basicially
"repair" our OS all because of an upgrade that MICROSOFT told us to do? It's
sad that Microsoft couldn't get the bugs out first before releasing this.
Thanks Microsoft! But I think we all have come to expect this of them. From
now on the lesson is don't upgrade your IE. Use Firefox!

OOOOOOHHHHh yes you do!!!!!!!
OOOOHH it's a critical update - do it or your world will fall apart!!!
Leonard Grey - 12 Jul 2007 17:56 GMT
In fact, IE 7 is a High Priority update.

If you don't want IE 7, don't install it. Nobody here cares whether you
do or don't. However, you should definitely not stay with IE 6 unless
you have to (e.g., an internally developed app is not compatible with IE
7.) If you don't want IE 7, get Firefox or Opera. Even fully patched, IE
6 is not as secure as current generation browsers.

If someone's not following the directions there isn't a lot Microsoft
can do about it.
