IE7 is so much slower than IE6. Everytime I try to open a new tab, my whole
computer slows down. IE6 was much faster

Do a Defrag and reboot when you're done.

P.S. You checked the Suggestion box, but didn't post a suggestion.

I totally agree. It has to do with the phishing filter...too invasive!

It's slow even with the phishing filter turned off.

I'm back to IE6...couldn't take it anymore. Although I love Microsoft and
know they did this to prepare for release of Vista next year, they need to
improve it a whole lot before I download it again.

I have a 'clean' install here of XP pro.  Nothing connected - no
printers, scanners, external drives, etc. The ONLY thing I have added to
that install is SP2 and then all the windows update site
recommendations.  I then installed IE7.

For three days, every time I open IE7 my HD begins to grind (and doesn't
stop until I close IE)and my CPU usage is as illustrated thus:
http://darienart.com/ie7.jpg

There is even considerable internet activity.

So - I just finished installing Firefox 2.  When I open it the HD works
for about 1/2 second and the CPU usage is thus:
http://darienart.com/ff.jpg

I then booted to my 'working' partition, opened IE7 and the result is
the same as mentioned above.

Try DISABLING Phishing Filter.
Turning it off was no help to me either.

See post by Jawwad, 11/1/2006.
