can anybody tell me how to set up IE7 so that I don't have to log on to
websites every time? Have already set the privacy setting to low, to no avail.

Hi,
Guessing, but try this...
Go to Internet Options> Content> Autocomplete> Settings, uncheck the "Use
AutoComplete for" options. Go to the General tab> Browsing History> Delete>
(next screen)> Delete passwords and Delete cookies.

Close all IE windows, re-enable AutoComplete.

Does that help?

Thanks, but I don't want autocomplete on.However,  I've already emptied all
the cookies and files, and started again from "new". That looked like working
for a while. Firefox is liiking prettier by the day.

Firefox is the way to go!  This IE 7 program is so slow and way behind.  I
like wiping the cookies I don't like or trust without having to wipe the
entire history, cookies,etc. folder.

Hi,
Umm... you can clear what you want to clear. No need to clear everything.

Hope this helps,

I''m actually using CCleaner to clean everything regularly. Except cookies on
the whitelist. I've re-installed all these cookies from a clean whitelist,
and in parallel with a clean internet browser. The only thing I haven't tried
is clearing the browser. I'm asking here because I'm maybe in for a long
troubleshoot, and I'd rather not spend days over it. Also in the hope someone
who works at Microsoft might read it. I'm not the only one.
Made a type earlier; what I meant was "Firefox is LOOKING prettier".

See: Want top manage our own cookies".
PapaJack is asleep at the wheel if he understands not how to remove unwanted
cookies only.  Get Mozilla FireFox until microsoft straightens out this mess,
and hopefully puts some speed to the browser.

Some of these people with very little experience have no idea what we are
talking about, but have a lot to say.

Try setting your home page to your internet home page or your email page.
It will still have you sign in if you like, or it will sign in for you.  I
have my email page set  as my home page on both IE and Mozilla....saves time,
and "keep a bat' next to your machine for those that think they can come in
and read your mail.lol

I use ewido, now avg something....a buys out b...  It asks each time if you
want to wipe what it thinks are harmful cookies.  But, with Mozilla FireFox,
you can use the spyware program's bad cookie list to help you block unwanted
cookies, this way the bad cookies don't even make it to your browser.  You
can also allow good cookies to be able to loaded to your system.  This way,
you don't have to sign in each time you visit your favorite web sites that
you may belong to or view often.  Try downloading Mozilla FireFox and play
with it for a few days.  If you don't like it, simply wipe it.  I find this
browser a lot faster with more options than IE.  I feel that MS was trying to
copy that browser, and will eventually get it right, lol.  Good Luck!

Hi,
As you know, some websites have a "Remember me" box to check- some don't.
The "Remember me" option has not been flawless for me, even with  IE6 and
I've been pretty liberal in allowing cookies. Deleting existing cookies
should have helped in some cases. Autocomplete for login should work in
others.

Sorry that I don't know what else to suggest. Most users appear to not be
having cookie problems.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still having the problem. Have also posted on
CCleaner forums as I think this is a program interaction problem. IE7 stores
temp internet and index dat files in different places now, and maybe they
work differently.
Gooing to try FF, but also quite determined to sort this problem, if anyone
finds the answer, or knows a tweak, that'd be great.

I have the exact same problem.  It was not there on the initial change to IE7
but just turned up one day and has been there ever since. Cookies being
ignored. They are there when you look at them, but logins are never automatic
as per the past.
Uninstalling and going back to IE6 showed it now has the same problem!
Re-installing IE7 and it is still the same.
Firefox works fine with Cookies.
I use no spyware/cookie cleaner type programs.

Glad I read this thread before throwing in the towel............

SO, I can use firefox and no other freeware or shareware etc is required?
I can load it and just leave IE7 as is, don't use it anymore?

Thanks, it's a start moving away from MS.

Syd
