Randy - 15 Nov 2006 23:33 GMT Sounds easy, doesn't it?"
Consumers only: Support for Internet Explorer 7 is available via the phone based on your locale. Customers must be running Windows XP in a non domain environment.
Support number: 1-866-234-6020
Hours of operation: Monday-Friday 5 am - 9 pm Pacific Standard Time Saturday-Sunday 6 am - 3 pm Pacific Standard Time
Not mention of cost, right. So when I called, I got an Indian woman who immediately began grilling me for all sorts of personal information. Never gave me a moment to say a word or ask my simple question. When she got done grilling me, entering in all my information, asking me to repeat almost everything, only then did she inform me that I could either go back to seaching Mircosoft Support, or pay $35 to actually talk to someone.
And all I wanted to know was how to get the picture downloading icon back that used to appear whenever I put my pointer over a photo or artwork in IE--till IE 7, that is.
Wasting your time? That's your problem, but wasting mine? No. I'm switching to Firefox. I'm convinced, sorry to say, Microsoft has lost all respect for its customers.
Don Varnau - 16 Nov 2006 00:53 GMT Hi, The (pop-up) Image Toolbar is not a feature in IE7. It's been reported that most users disabled it.
But... yes... phone-in tech support is always a pain. Even when things go smoothly, it's a pain.

NetFodder - 16 Nov 2006 04:08 GMT As don only hinted at Microsoft removed almost ALL functionality. I don't know if they did it on purpose to generate the phone sales with simple answers of "oh, well, we got rid of that feature!"

I am disgusted with the use of Indian tech support reps. Did you notice that they all have English sounding names like Mike, Bob, John, Donna, Stacy, etc? I never would have imagined those being such popular names in Bombay.
It's pointless. Search the web and Usenet and you can find an answer to most any software question you need. If you can't find it here, chances are there isn't an answer and the problem is a bug that isn't going to be acknowledged.
Randy - 16 Nov 2006 18:56 GMT Thanks, guys, for your responses and suggestions. Sad situation.
Another firefox defector - 22 Nov 2007 17:30 GMT I had the same situation happening to me, the new and improved "upgrade" of IE7 eliminated my picture download feature. To make matters worse, I resisted downloading this "upgrade", until MS presented it to me as a "required security update". After spending 2 hours trying to figure out how to include this feature in this marvelous upgrade, I now had to create a LiveID only to respond to your posting. And, by the way, everything is now geared towards VISTA, so if you are not well to do financially start saving for the new and improved OS.
