Hello. I have 2 machines running XP Professional and using IE7. On one of
those machines, I can download as many files simultaneously as I like, but on
the other I can only download 2 at a time. What settings do I need to change
on the only 2 at a time machine to enable me to download as many files
simultaneously as I like?
Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer here.

I know there's an easier way to do it, but this might help:

If I remember an easier way, I'll post back.

At the sight given below to edit windows registry, MS strongly recommended
not doing this. It violates standard internet protocols? Why and what does
this mean?

If you screw up when editing the Registry you can render the machine
unbootable. (You have to format and install from scratch, losing
everything.) If you follow the instructions exactly no harm befalls you or
the machine. I suggest that you not do it. There's a reason for the
default.
