I accidentally un-installed IE& on my brand new IE7 system. Short of a
complete system reinstall, is there anyway to download IE& for my Vista
system and re-install it??? The IE7 site keeps saying I have it and there is
no re-install necessary. I tried installing IE7 for XP but of course it
didn't work. Must I wait until the first Vista IE7 updates come out or is
there another way?

Hi Hank:
Since IE 7 is part of the Vista operating system, it can't be
uninstalled, but it can certainly be damaged. And since there's no way
to know through a newsgroup post exactly what you did to your operating
system, you're left with having to reinstall Vista.

Hi,
You will have to translate this into Vista terminology, but here's my
advice for IE6 or IE7 on Windows XP...

Attempts to uninstall IE6 from XP [usually] simply remove access to IE.
Cross your fingers and try this.
Go to Add/remove programs> Add/remove Windows components> put a check by IE.
OK your way out. Restart.
You may also have to go into "Set program access & defaults" and make
choices regarding "Default" and "Enable access."
You may also have to go into Display properties> Desktop> Customize to check
IE under Desktop icons.

Hope this helps,

I had hoped I wouldn't have to do a complete reboot--things are okay right
now so I'll wait awhile. Thanks though for getting back to me

It is not possible to uninstall IE7 from Vista, especially accidentally.
At most you might have removed the shortcut from the desktop.

When were those days, I don't seem to remember them unless you are a major
corporation , financial institution or government entity ? If you recently
bought a Dell computer have you tried going to them for help with your OEM
Vista problems? Look on your primary/sole HD and see if there is a "backup"
partition. That is how Dell allows you to reinstall unless you have ordered
the DVDs at extra cost which allow you to reinstall on a reformatted HD. It
may be worth it for you to invest in the restore DVDs set.
