Thanks for reply - unfortunately still not working here. Looks though it
must be a setting within IE7 that is causing the problem but I have no idea
which.

Please see this page http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm then post back to this

Thanks for your interest. The following is a copy and paste of everything
that comes up on screen:

I have looked at the page properties (general) and the only info. there is a
heading: "JRun Servlet Error". There is no security certificate.
My PC is an Emachines 270 with Windows XP SP2. 40GB of which 72% is free.
384MB RAM. Windows Defender and AVG antivirus. No recent software
additions/deletions.
Hope you can help. Many Thanks.

Always state your Windows version when posting to a MS newsgroup, please.
Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:
1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;
2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

Hi,
Some possibilities...
My cookie blocklist blocked 6 cookies on that page- doubleclick, hitbox, etc
Try a cookie setting of Accept all- Internet Options> Privacy.
There's a full page pop-up ad. Try the IE7 pop-up blocker both enabled and
disabled. Disable any other pop-up blockers you're running.
Try disabling add-ons. See if one of them is blocking javascript or some
other content.
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
Try disabling other security programs. One of them may be the cause.
A firewall might be causing this problem, but turn on the Windows Firewall
from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a third-party firewall
or security suite.
Make sure that a security program hasn't placed this site in the HOSTS
file.
To check the HOSTS file in Windows XP & Vista...
Make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is
not hiding file extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file
at [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If
there are entries you wish to disable, you can put the pound sign (#) in
front an entry to disable it. Then File> Save. Or you can rename the HOSTS
file to HOSTS.OLD to disable it.

In addition, I'd suggest checking for Java update.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys - have tried them all but nothing works.
Cannot understand why some people can get to this site using IE7 whereas
others get exactly the same 500 error message as me! Will just have to put
it down as one of life's mysteries.
Thanks again for your time.

I'm wondering if we are even seeing the same site? <eg>
<nslookup>
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: rtwww.bbc.net.uk
Address: 212.58.235.200
Aliases: www.radiotimes.com
</nslookup>
Looks British I guess. ; )
Gordon, are you seeing any sign of Java being used there?
All that I see is Flash. Even Sun Java Console doesn't indicate
any Java activity. Perhaps I would have to disable Flash support
before Java would be tried as an alternative? (I'm not interested
in testing that idea personally.)
FWIW

There's certainly some Javascript in the Source...(not too knowledgable
about that) and when I click on the link, my browser shows
http://www.radiotimes.com:80/

Finally resolved this by deleting all saved cookies. An old version of the
Radio Times cookie was the cause of the error message. Again thanks to all.
