I can't seem to get rid of the icons that appear at the right-hand side of
the Command Bar in IE7.  I go in to Add/Remove Commands, remove them all, but
even if I lock the toolbars, next time I open IE they're back.  I can move
the separator so that only one icon shows, but isn't there some way to get
rid of these permanently?

Hi Jim,

Yes, you can disable the command bar permanently by this little command-line
tool I have written:

qlaunch.exe commandbar=no

Have you tried cleaning out that temp folder completely before the install?
You might have a corrupted file in the Temp folder and IE7 keeps trying to
use it.
Just a guess.

Maybe a different question rather than an answer for Jim, sorry.
I would like to change what the actual icons do on the command bar. I would
like the 'read mail' icon to open a new browser window for viewing webmail
rather than it opening my Outlook by default but I can't seem to see any way
to "edit" this command associated with the icon.  I really don't want to be
programming IE7 for MS as they should be able to get this accomplished on
their own with all the $$$$$ spent on them already with the painful Vista I'm
dealing with for 2 months.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Hi,

Did you try going to Tools||Internet Options||Programs and setting your
default Email Program to Hotmail or Windows Live Mail?

Good Luck,

Donald Anadell

No I didn't with the concern that Outlook is my default and Vista will really
make it difficult if IE7 tells it that's not the case.  They're so tied in
together it makes me sick.  I was hoping there was a way to 'customize' the
toolbar or add an icon that would open a window in IE7 for webmail.  If I can
get this done, I could then program different icons to go to each of the 3
different webmail accounts I have with different clients on different
projects.  Now I go to favorites, or type in the webmail address to get
there, just looking for some shortcuts.

Thanks for the feedback though.

There's no other functionality to that "Read Mail" icon on the Browsers
Command Bar other than opening up the Email Client that is set as the
default Client, whether it's set to Outlook, Windows Mail, Windows Live
Mail, etc.

I'm afraid not with regard to that "Read Mail" icon on the Command Bar in
the Browser.

See here for info in regards to adding additional Buttons in the Browser :

Or just add them to the Links bar;)

You're welcome
