Hi, I recently upgraded my XP Service pack 2 PC to Vista Home Premium. It's
a new PC and I used the express upgrade DVD which was an included free
upgrade. I had a very hard time installing a working copy of Vista using
upgrade and clean installs.
Most of the bugs have been fixed now, the only thing that's bothering me now
is the fact that Internet Explorer 7 will not open. Whenever I click the icon
to open it I get "Internet Explorer has stopped working...please wait while
windows finds a solution to this problem". No solution ever appears. This is
particularly annoying because I need explorer to properly install flash for
windows Live Messenger.
I've tried downloading IE7 and installing it over the previous one but it
does absolutely nothing. I can't even find a way to uninstall IE7.
Is there anyone out there who can help?
Many thanks.

Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:
1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;
2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?

I don't believe you can uninstall Vista IE7. It comes with the package.
Click to open User Accounts.
Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an
administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide
confirmation.
Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer
check box to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn off UAC, and then
click OK.
Have you tried a system restore?

Yes I have tried running the no add ons version but this dosen't work either.
I don't think system restore would work because this problem started after I
installed Vista and has never worked.

To whom are you replying? To keep track of things, it helps immensely if
you include all of previous message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup.
Thank you.

Capricasix,
Are you using Low Rights IE (protected mode)?

Have you tried right clicking the IE desktop icon and selecting Run As
Administrator?

Thank you very much, running as administrator works perfectly.
