When I click on the Explorer Icon instread of going to my home page
(aol.com) I get an error message which reads:

Cannot find 'file:///C:/Program%20Files/AOL%20Toolbar/welcome.html'. Make
sure the path or internet address is correct.

I then get a blank screen. I can then click on my home page icon and get
there, but this is an annoying problem. . But I still get this annoying step
everytime. Can someone help with
this?

Hello,

try to disable the AOL Toolbar or change it's behavior to change to that
site. And, if necessary, change your homepage in Tools -> Internet Options,
which could have been changed by the Toolbar.

Greetings,

Many thanks for your replay.

Disabling AOL toolbar didn't resolve issue nor did changing home page via
internet options.

Error message indicated that it was looking for 'welcome.html' file in
C:/Program Files/AOL Toolbar' folder.  Unfortunately it couldn't find it.

I resolved the issue by uninstalling Toolbar via Control Panel/Add Remove,
removed AOL Toolbar folder under Program Files, installed Reg Crawler and
searched and deleted all installed instances of 'AOL Toolbar'

That did the trick and IE7 opening up properly again.  I shan't bother
installing this toolbar again.

Again, thanks for your helpful thoughts

I am having the same problem.  I saw your solution but I cannot get it to
work.  from where did you download reg crawler?  Is hter anything special
that you have to do to delete the files from Vista?

Rich,

If your running Vista I'm afraid RegCrawler is incompatible with the O/S.
I'm testing Vista myself and using my standard spyware etc, PC and registry
cleaners.  RegCrawler and Windows Washer are two that so far don't completely
work satisfactorily.

Rich,

(dup post?)

If your running Vista RegCrawler does not work satisfactorily.  Been trying
to run my usual utilities on a Vista test machine and found this and Window
Washer do not complete satisfactorily
