Hello,

I've posted on this before and still have not found a solution.  Does anyone
know how to isolate and correct what these machines are experiencing?

Multiple new Lenovo computers (ThinkPad T60's and ThinkCentre M52's)
Fresh installs of Windows Vista Ultimate with all current updates

Office 2007, Project 2007, Visio 2007 (all full installs)
Office Communicator 2005
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 addins
Visual Studio.NET 2005 w/ SP1 and Vista update
SQL Studio 2005 SP2
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i w patch 1

NO Google apps installed, btw

When closing a tab or clicking on the X to exit IE7, it crashes and
restarts...typical error that happens 4 to 5 times a day is:

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR...

Reset IE7...still crashes

Disabling addins individually...still crashes
Run without any addins (-extoff)...still crashes

IE7 (right click) Run as Administrator...NO CRASHES

How does one isolate the cause of this?  It is beyond frustrating to have to
put up with this.

Thanks in advance,

Dwight

When did this behavior begin (e.g., after installing a Cumulative Security
Update for IE)?

Does the behavior persist in all non-Admin accounts?

If you temporarily uninstall (or even uninstall) VirusScan and/or any
third-party firewall, does this behavior persist?

Are you using Norton software?

1) Check your connections

2) Try disabling Protected Mode - does it persist?

3) Try System Restore to before crash began - does it persist?

4) Create a Second Administrator Account - does it persist?

Hi,

No Norton antivirus or firewall or protection software is
installed...however the Ghost product is.  We use it to manage disk images
only.

1)  There seem to be no connection problems.

2)  Running as administrator seems to disable Protected Mode and the problem
DOES NOT happen when running this way.

3)  No system restores on any of the machines are available before this
started back in January.

4)  With different Administrator-level accounts the problem DOES happen...it
is not just any one profile on any of the systems.''

Thanks,

Dwight

Hi,

The Vista pilot systems have been doing this intermittently but with
increasing frequency since January.

NO third party firwaill is installed...we only use the native Microsoft one.

The problem behavior persisted with different vendor's anti-virus products
and with none (for a short time none was installed for testing).
