I am using Vista with IE7 and just recently I have been getting a problem
where the favicons for some websites get mixed up with other websites.
Clearing the history and Temporary Internet Files helps for a bit but
eventually the problem comes back. Any suggesstions for a permanent fix?

Although this symptom was reported throughout the beta I doubt that enough
details about it have been accumulated yet.   Certainly I haven't yet seen
anyone claim that it is reproducible.   So I think you would need to at least
find some common factors which would make it viewed as predictable.
Otherwise it will be yet another random quirk that never gets resolved.

How frequently does "eventually" imply?   If it happens often enough
and is annoying enough perhaps you will start keeping track of
1.    when favicons are accessed
2.    when Favorites are resaved
3.    when the wrong favicons are accessed

FileMon filtering on  fav  and highlighting WRITE could be one way of
observing and recording such details.

Others have reported being able to change related symptoms
by marking their Favorites  (i.e., *.URL files)  Read-Only.
E.g. that would avoid case 2 above and therefore perhaps
reduce the likelihood of case 3.

It happens about once on an average browsing day. i can try and be more exact.
