IE6 works just fine on my computer, but once I install IE7 it doesn't work at
all.  When I click on any of the links to open it, nothing will open.  I've
also notice that after installing IE7 the Internet Options link in the
control panel disappears.  But when I uninstall it and go back to IE6, it
appears again in the control panel.  I've tried everything. From installing
in safe mode to running multiple spyware checkers.  I'm out of ideas.  Has
anybody else experienced this problem?

Do you have the same problem when you run Internet Explorer 7 without
add-ons?

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No Add-ons)

Did you follow these instructions exactly when installing IE 7?
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install

Download the installer and install from your hard disk:

1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode?

To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?

3. If you uninstall (a) IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6), (b)
all toolbars and (c) all third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds) and don't reinstall IE7, does this behavior persist?

I've already tried all of those things, with the same results.  The program
doesn't open or respond at all.  As soon as I uninstall it, IE6 works
perfectly fine like nothing happened.

You may have had a horked (dirty; bad; flawed) install of IE7.  I suggest
that you..,

1. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds).

2. Reinstall IE7 per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install,
and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.
