When a link from my email or web-browser tries to open IE, I get a screen
full of cascading IE boxes. I have checked for viruses, etc., and completely
reloaded my whole system, with no resultant help. Does anyone know if this
is a problem between VISTA and IE (this is a new computer preloaded with
Vista and IE7).

WOW, I wish I could help because I have the same problem. I'm running IE7
and XP. It seems to occur when my user goes into standby with an IE window
open. I then reselect the user and it start spontaneously generating
windows; 60 to 100 of them. I hope someone has a solution?

I saw a fix posted a while back for that problem.
Try it here:

Hi,
You may have an incompatible browser add-on.
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.
The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other
security, privacy, ad-blocking programs to see if one of them is causing the
problem. Any program that interacts with Internet Explorer could be causing
this. The connection with IE may not be obvious, such as Google Desktop or a
theme or other appearance tweaking program.
A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but be sure to turn on
the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a
third-party firewall or security suite during testing.
Hope this helps,
Don
