Is there a way to uninstall IE7 and install IE6 instead? I just purchased a
new HP and it came with Vista Home Premium and IE7..I really hate 7 and it
has been nothing but trouble..my messenger keeps messing up and it tells me
IE7 isnt installed properly...No matter what settings I use I continue to get
script errors, loads slowly if at all, etc. MS says talk to HP/compaq since
oem, they dont have a solution either and I cant seem to find anything about
getting rid of it and using 6.Thanks

Internet Explorer 7 is part of the Windows Vista operating system and
can't be uninstalled nor can Vista use IE 6.

Nothing in your post offers a clue as to what you might have done to
your computer. When people run into problems with IE 7 it's almost
always due to one of these causes:

1 - They have installed one or more incompatible add-ons. Try running IE
7 without add-ons. (Right click the Internet Explorer icon on your
desktop and select No Add-ons.)

2 - They have misconfigured Internet Explorer. Try resetting IE 7 to its
default settings. (Open IE 7 and go to Tools > Internet Options >
Advanced tab  > Reset Internet Explorer settings.)

3 - Viruses or other malicious software are active on the computer.

4 - They have installed software that is not compatible with IE 7. This
is typically security software.

Ok, I have already done #2  for #3 I have run MS malicious software removal,
nothing showed.have also run Norton that came with vista, no virus for #4 the
only security software is what came with it as I said, the only thing I have
tried to add was Yahoo toolbar and yahoo messenger, but still acts up when I
remove them. As for #1 someone had suggested that already so I tried it also
no luck..but I will go back through and double check everything again..thanks
anyway

Do a _thorough_ check for malware, following _all_ of the steps at one of
these Web pages.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author.  See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything.  Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along.  Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

How to troubleshoot Internet Explorer 7 issues in Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936215

Try disabling Norton Protection Guard - If using the 30 day free trial
version, I'd suggest uninstall and get a "REAL" anti-virus software such as
Windows OneCare.  If you'd like a free solution then try the free edition of
BitDefender (bitdefender.com) it's for Vista systems.

You might also try a System Restore
