1) Tools>Internet Options>General Tab
Under Browsing History click on View Objects button
Check for icons that may have a black shield and yellow exclamation mark.  
If found, right click on them and click on remove
Right click on remaining icons and click on properties.  Click on Dependency
Tab.  Look for Damaged.  
If found, click on close (Red X upper right corner)
Right click on the icon for that program and click on remove
Reboot System

Test Java for version.  May need updating.

Are you using any third-party popup killers?  Try disabling them.

Pogo.com Notes: Pogo.com is an ad generated site that "requires" doubleclick
