I, too, am having some major problems with my cookies. They're set to low,
but not a single website has cookies retained for it. I wiped out everything
(passwords, temp files, etc), restarted the computer and that didn't work,
either. It's not saving anything when I click "remember my info" (or
something close to that). It's also not remembering what websites are okay
for pop-up's (I had to struggle to make this thread!). It's been like this
for more than a week and I'm pretty clueless as to what to do. I've disabled
my firewall (both windows and 3rd party), ran a spyware check and virus check
and came up with nothing.

Do you have security software that is set to erase your cookies?

At one point in time.. and that was if I set it to erase them. I changed all
of those settings w/o success. Currently, I have no security software running.

"Currently, I have no security software running."

No anti-virus? No anti-malware? No firewall? Cookies are the least of
your worries.

It was only for the purpose of this thread to test. I've enabled everything
again, though.

Just disabled?   Which one is it?   Some security software apparently does
not really disable as well as you might expect and instead actually has to be
removed to have the desired effect.  Also, there are even cases then of the
uninstall not working properly, so then you have to visit the web site of the
company which makes it for special instructions or an improved uninstaller.

Good luck

I'm using CA Internet Security Suite 2007. I'm running Windows XP Home and
using IE 7.0

You may have a horked (dirty; bad; flawed) install of IE7.  I suggest that
you..,

1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html

2. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds).

3. If the behavior does NOT persist in IE6, reinstall IE7 per
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install, and using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the installation
source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

So far, so good. I uninstalled ie7 and reinstalled it. I don't know if it was
causing it, but I had the Google toolbar on there that I uninstalled as well.
I've been using ie for about 15 minutes now and it's saved everything..
*crosses fingers*

Thanks for posting back.  If all remains well, try installing the
most-recent version of Google Toolbar, if desired.

Bah.. maybe I spoke too soon. Nothing was saved when I turned the computer
back on this morning. :(

Contact CA Support (or read your CA Internet Security's Help file more
closely) to see if one or more settings in this security suite may be the
culprit.
