Like a lot of people, I could not get IE7 to work in Vista unless I ran it
as an administrator. One solution I picked up was to disable protected mode
using the tools menu - this worked well, but I wondered why I could not get
the program to work 'properly'. Tonight on another forum I was given
another tip and as it works, I thought I should pass it on - forgive me if
this has already been posted. If you have omnipage OCR software installed,
use msconfig to disable it running at startup - apparently it will still run
if you want it to later. Re start your computer and IE7 should work fine,
including in enabled protected mode. Good luck!

What are you blethering about? IE7 is part of Vista.

I know IE7 is part of Vista, but like many people I had problems getting it
to work properly

I have read threads in different forums, including this one, where people
have experienced difficulty with Vista's IE7 not opening. Thankfully Vista
users have put forward suggestions/workrounds to help. I had previously
used IE7 on an XP2 machine with Omnipage running at startup with no
problems, they only started after my upgrade to Vista. The reason for my
original post was to pass on the help I recieved after reading a post on the
WindowsXP magazine forum:

Just trying to help out

So what you're saying is that IE 7 wasn't the problem.

Usually IE7 isn't. Ordinarily incompatible add-ons/applications
