yeh, the feature to reset / customize the size is only temporary.
i'd like to find a more permanent solution, like a registry setting.
have thought about a script or macro, but ie keeps defaulting to the100%
view when creating a new tab instance.
i wonder if modifing the ini file would work?
but i think it might be better at the registry level....
if you come up with any idea-ers let me kno...!
One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include
but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer,
SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee
VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro).

well, took a chance and search the registry.
i finally came across these sub keys
under their parent internetexplorer key:
resettextsizeonstartup
and
resetzoomonstartup
and changed their values from 1 to 0.
seems like this modification does the trick
with keeping the custom size permanently
set.
thanks for your help.

Now, which of the applications I cited in my previous reply was responsible
for setting those values to 1 in the first place?

If /any/ of those applications were running when you installed IE7, you may
have other problems...
