IE7 Hiding visited links

I asked this some time ago before and the answer only made things worse.

PROBLEM: Visited links don't change from Blue to purple or whatever color
the web master chose to confuse links with - you know, some designers use
Black for font and grey as a link color - that poor designing aside.....

I checked this out by making a page and used the old fashioned default
Link=Blue and Visited=Purple mouseover=red and when going and clicking a link
and going back IE7 ignored them and left the visited at Blue, even visited
More than once with a hard refresh.

Changing settings in Tools > Options > Accessibility messes up all colors,
links included. Making the change there, Google for example, has a the old
Mosaic (first browser for you young'uns) browser grey background, bad
graphics and links are worse.

Makes navigating a toughie when you don't see a Visited=link color different
from a link color.  Even tried changing it in Tools > Options > Ignore colors.

There must be another way where Visited links show up as a different color
or has places like Google, and web(masters) set links=blue and visited=blue?
Like this Forum. I see Black for text, black for titles, and black is the
link as well. Visited? Guess what - it's black too.

I forgot to add that History is set at default 20 days, I'm stuck with Vista
Home Premium Ed, on IE7. I should also mention that I had Expression Blend
stuff and quickly removed it without using it too much.

Hi,
Google is a good test page with it's default colors:
link = blue
visited = purple
active = red
background = white

With nothing checked in Internet Options> General> Accessibility, you don't
get those colors?

You might have a corrupted History folder. Try setting History to 0 days.
Restart. Set History back to 20 days. Any change?

If you start IE7 without add-ons (right-click the IE icon) does the
situation change?

Hope this helps,
Don

Done - thanks, but none of that worked. What I did notice though is that a
page where nothing is defined, the default Blue/Purple do work. But Google,
that uses "a:visited{color:#00c;font-weight:normal}.gb2 a,.gb3
a{text-decoration:none}.gb2 a{display:block;padding:.2em .5em}#gbar",

doesn't work. Do you think something in IE7 blocks Style Sheets?

Hi,
You don't have a Style Sheet specified, do you? Internet Options> General>
Accessibility.

Or, tick all boxes in Accessibility. Restart. Untick all boxes. Restart.
Try the same with Colors.

Have you cleared the History and Temporary Internet Files?

> Do you think something in IE7 blocks Style Sheets?

Google's colors for background, link, etc are specified in plain old HTML
(about halfway down the page when viewing source code)
</head><body bgcolor=#ffffff text=#000000 link=#0000cc vlink=#551a8b
alink=#ff0000

Hi,
How long ago did you install Expression Web Designer? Do you have a System
Restore point which predates that install?

Installed Expression too far back to be able to use the Restore point. I
think I might just reinstall Vista.

Hi,
OK, two last thoughts...
1. Are you current on updates for Windows and IE? There's a *slim*
possibility that an update will replace a damaged file.
2. You might try a repair of Vista.
