Windows Live Messenger conflicts with IE7

I have found a serious problem when running Windows Live Messenger and then
opening IE7. I know it is not just my computer as I tested it on a friends
computer as well and was hoping someone here would know if there is a fix.

If you are chatting away on Windows Live Messenger, and try to then open
IE7, all I get is a white screen and the bar at the bottom of IE7 is blank
(where it would normally say Done, 100%, Internet etc)

If I then close down everything and reopen IE7, IE7 is broken! Even
restarting the pc doesn't fix this. So a system restore has to be done and
even then, it doesn't always work.

Does anyone know if Microsoft are aware of this or if there is a fix for
this error?

Many thanks,

David

Cannot reproduce here.

You can post your query to this Windows Live Messenger-specific newsgroup:

I don't have MS Internet Explorer configured as my default browser, and am
in the middle of some BitTorrent downloads, so I am not about to make major
changes to the system at this time. If I get a link in Windows Live
Messenger, it currently does not open MSIE.

However, with a message window open, and an active conversation, manually
opening MSIE7 does not exhibit the behavior you speak of. I will try
changing default browses when I get a chance, and try it again. I would
suspect the problem is related to WLM more than MSIE, though. If it is
really a bug.

Did you check, e.g., with  View Source,  if the page really is blank?

If it's not blank, e.g.contains code for doing a redirect
it could mean that your security settings are too high.
Try using  Default Level  security settings?
