Whenever I highlight text in a webpage, right-click, and click on copy or
cut my browser crashes. Any ideas what the problem may be?

What Windows Version do you have?  Vista? XP?

Try starting IE with no add-ons - Right click on IE icon and select Start
Without Add-ons.  Does it still persist?

Has this always happened with IE?

I'm running it in XP with SP2. I tried disabling the add ons and it didn't
help. I have a similar problem with other browsers, as well. Firefox doesn't
crash, but it doesn't save the material I'm trying to copy/cut. Does that
help? Thanks for the suggestion!

Check Tools>Internet Options>Security Tab
Click on Internet Zone
Click on Custom Level Button
Scroll down to Drag and Drop or Copy Paste Files
Ensure Enable-On is checked.
Click Ok twice

It is, indeed, selected.

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.
Help with malware:

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author.  See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything.  Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along.  Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

I ran AdAware and it didn't detect anything (as per the suggestions of the
first webpage you listed). Any other thoughts?

Ad-Aware does not scan for viruses, and it's not very good at what it
does scan (adware and spyware). Frank suggested you perform a /thorough/
scan for malicious software - you should follow his recommendations.

I've completed all of the steps in the websites, and several of the
programs I've used indicated that my PC is malware and virus-free. The error
message I get when MIE crashes indicates that the mshtmled.dll file is the
problem. Does that help at all?

Where did you post your HijackThis log?  Can you post a link to it?
