I have ran into a problem after I recently upgraded my operating system from
Windows 2000, to windows XP.  Since then it has effected my internet explorer
and not allowed me to view certain pages.  When I try to log on to these
pages, explorer simply closes, no error message or anything.  I dont know
what is wrong with me internet explorer it worked before now it is all jacked
up.  If you could give me some assistance I would be appreciative.  I am a
deployed soldier in Iraq and unfortunately this is my only way to fix my
computer for now.

What anti-virus and firewall are you using?

I am using McAafee Virus scan and no firewall.  I also tried the following
post and I know that it is not a problem with the flash player, because the
next post did not work.

Details?   As a guess if "certain pages" could imply Shockwave Flash programs.
Remove your Flash Object and retry.  You may be prompted to reinstall it.
See what happens if you decline the prompt before doing that.  Etc.

It is not the flash player, because it did the same thing after I uninstalled
flash 9.  Then I reinstalled it and it did the same thing, so I figure that
since I have a new uncorrupted version of flash 9 on my system that is not
what is causing the problem.  Instead it is reacting to something else.
Thanks for your help though and I appreciate any suggestions you might have
in the future.

Yes.   Evidently it's your Java.   So try the same procedure with it.

Good luck
