toolbar button disappearing

i have an extension that installs two toolbar icons.
on a few test machines, one of these buttons just disappears.

after checking, it looks like a key has been created at HKCU\Software
\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{MYGUID|\iexplore
under this there's a value 'Blocked' = some number.

playing with this value brought back the icon, but why was it hidden
at all ?
i tried to look at the 'addons and activex' section in IE but couldn't
find any entry for that
may represent the hiding of this button.

the button is a button that brings up a vertical sidebar (BandCLSID).

any help would be appreciated,
thank you

Are you not a Developer?  Sure sounded like it in your original post (which
you've failed to include in your reply).
