Slow internet connection & IE7 not responding

EVERYTIME I turn on my HP Pavilion 751n it takes about 15 minutes to get
online to a login page with a DSL connection!  By this time I have openned
the task manager to see what is going on.  I find IE not responding.  It take
numerous attempts to end the task and  numerous report sent to Microsoft.  I
was hoping after a hundred or so of these errors that I would get a fix via
auto update.  A resart of IE takes only a bout 2 minutes.  I am running TREND
internet security and have found no virus or spyware.

Can anyone help?  What is going on beween bootup and the not responding
messages?

If I leave my PC on all the time it becomes bogged down and I have to
reboot every few days.

 Thanks

Is there really no solution for this?

We know you're running IE7: Are you running WinXP SP2 or Vista?

One might assume that the solution to your problems might be found in the
troubleshooting steps detailed in 936211, Al.

I am running SP2.  I will go through 936211 again.  My laptop  is wireless on
the same DSL and it connects much faster. The 10 minutes plius startup owuld
appear to be meandering through the registry.

 Thanks,  Al

I am running(slowly) Windows home XP/sp2.  I went through 936211.  Some parts
were not applicable since a can get  onlne and to the pages eventually and my
laptop connects much faster(wireless).

I did reset my DSL Router/Modem  and had minor short term improvement.

Qwest has checked my  connection from there end and found no problem.

Is there anyway to get this  my HP to connect faster?  Or should I be sure
to replace it with another brand?

Thanks,  Al
