I started getting this IE7 pop-up recently whenever I go to www.cnn.com (I
have
pop-ups blocked) that says "Stack overflow at line: 76". I went to Internet
zone, reset to default level (medium-high), and tried cnn again, but get the
same pop-up. I saw this was a thread last week, but the suggestion doesn't
seem to work for me. Any ideas how to fix and eliminate this?

PA Bear,
Yes. Windows IE7. I have Windows XP Pro. I do not get the eoor on other
websites. Could this be a problem with streaming video, etc. since cnn.com
recently revised their webpage and it has streaming video a little ways down
on right side of page. BTW, you helped me once before, and I repeat my thanks
for that.

1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode?
To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode:
Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or
Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

3. If you uninstall (a) IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6), (b)
all toolbars and (c) all third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds) and don't reinstall IE7, does this behavior persist?

PA Bear,
Just tried starting in No Add-ons mode, and got the same error when I went
to my home page which is www.cnn.com. Could it be the streaming video, or
other such stuff on cnn's recently re-designed webpage? Other thoughts?
Vanguard asked if I had flushed the browser's temp files and cookies
recently, which I haven't

Did you flush the browser's temp file cache (and cookies, too)?
Rob - 14 Jul 2007 17:46 GMT
No, I haven't flushed them recently. Should I flush the temp file and the
cookies?

Me: Flush the temp file and cookies.
You: Should I flush the temp file and cookies?
You expected a "no" answer?
Rob - 15 Jul 2007 03:02 GMT
I did not expect a "no" answer. I was being cautious, because you may have
been querying about a flush causing the problem. I was 90% sure that flushing
was your recommendation, if I hadn't, but the 10% uncertainty led me to ask
you. Anyway, as you can see by my last post before this, the flush of the
cookies worked, and I give you credit. I do truely thank you. Hope this is
clear.
Appreciate,
Rob

I had the same problem as well, however it only appeared when I tried to
access my G-Mail account and the error was "Stack overflow at line: 1050",
instead of 76.
Regardless, clearing the temp files and cookies as well cleared the problem.
Though unintentional, thanks for the help. :P

You are welcome. This forum has helped me help myself several times.

OK, I think I have solved the problem. I increased my pagefile size to
1000-1500 MB (it had been 788MB when I let windows manage this parameter),
and I flushed both the browser temp files and cookies. With just the pagefile
size increased, I still got the error. With the temp files flushed also, I
still got the error. Only when I also flushed the cookies, did the error go
away. Not sure if I had to increase the pagefile size, but it was something I
checked on my desktop and I saw my notebook had a smaller pagefile. Anyway,
thanks to Vanguard for the flushing idea, and to PA Bear who has always had
some great suggestions. This time, the No Add-ons did not seem to help the
prob.

YW & thanks for posting back. [I cited 2 other things to try besides
starting IE7 in No Add-ons mode. <wink>]
