Developers need IE6 for Vista

I've scoured the internet and from what I read it appears that there is NO
way to install IE6 on a vista machine. However, since a large percentage of
users still use IE6, us website developers NEED to test on IE6. In addition a
lot of site still do not support IE7 (e.g. I'm working on a system called
Right Now, which does NOT support IE7).
When I bought my new laptop to work remotely I wanted the best but I got
something that's proven to be incompatible with web developer standards.
Please Please find a way so we can install a working native copy of IE6 on
Vista, or I might just as well sell my new computer and buy an old one second
hand...

Hi,
Large downloads (434 - 934 MB) but you can download and install IE6 in a
Virtual PC Image from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=21eabb90-958f-4b64-b5f1

If that link breaks put   ie7 vpc   in the Search field at www.microsoft.com

Hope this helps,
Don

Has anyone successful installed the most recent version of this file (as of
today, mar 27 2008).  I've attempted it four times now and have encountered
the same error each time: "IE6_VPC.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

Microsoft Customer service has suggested a corrupt download; but after four
times it does not seem likely to me.  I calculated the MD5 sum on the last
two downloads, and they are the same.  Unfortunately, there does not seem to
be an accessible MD5 from Microsoft for the original file (I could not get
one through Microsoft Customer Service either).

So if anyone has recently downloaded and used this file, could they please
validate this sum for me?

You have a group of developers but none have heard of VMware?  VMware
Server is free.  We don't know what software you are developing.  If
drivers or other kernel-level software than virtual machines don't
support it.  Then you'll have to look into multiboot managers, like GAG
(sourceforge.net), removable hard drives, or another host as you
mentioned.
