IE7 favorites disappeared - 15 Jul 2007 06:02 GMT
Suddenly my Favorites folder has disappeared. It's doesn't appear in my
correct user's folder either. Note-show all hidden files & folder is checked,
so too is hidden system files.
In Internet folder options the Show Personal Favorites is checked in the
advanced tab also.
When I go to IE-7 and click on the Toolbar Favorites Link, I just see a big
gray box where my Favorites used to live.
I've reloaded in Repair mode XP, I've uninstalled IE-7 and reinstalled is
twice. It didn't fix the problem.
Any one know how to fix this problem with out installing a fresh copy of XP?

Were you trying to import your Favorites from another browser? The way
to do this is with the Import/Export Wizard in Internet Explorer.

Otherwise: Do you have any clues as to what caused your Favorites to
suddenly disappear? Were you making any adjustments to your settings,
perhaps? Using a registry cleaner, maybe?

If you can't think of anything you or someone else might have done that
would cause this to happen, you should thoroughly scan your system for
malicious software with /several/ of the better online scanners
(Kaspersky, Eset, Trend Micro, Panda, Sophos, Symantec etc.) and, if
necessary, submitted a HiJack This log to one of the expert web sites
that analyze these logs.

Installing a fresh copy of Windows won't get your Favorites back.
