Hi there. I've been trying to log into this chatroom to talk to an online
tutor (it's a school based chatroom). And, to get in, I needed to install
this activex, something called Eyeball video or something like that. So, I
install it, etc and I connect to a tutor and I can talk for about maybe a
minute or so until internet explorer brings up
the adds-on manager, and it says "add-on encoutered a problem" and it shows
"Eyeball video session control". I've tried using other browsers, but
apparently they don't support activex.

Anyway, so, then IE says the usual "windows is trying to find a solution to
the problem" and then it restarts. This has happened continuously. I've
updated and done everything.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you can help me with my problem.

Could you possibly be referring to Eyeball Chat?
http://www.eyeballchat.com/

If so, here is their Help page:

Sounds like to you need to get a version of the software that is
compatible with your version of Internet Explorer.
