Hi Ruud,
Does this happen when you run IE7 in no addons mode.
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (no Addons)
You can disable Addons quickly by un-checking the 'Enable Third-party
browser extensions' on the Advanced tab of Internet Options.
All addons are loaded during IE's startup and some have now included
automatic updates that call home each time the browser is started
(googletoolbarnotifier.exe). Others that validate web pages or links for
anti-phishing purposes can slow the browser down, though this will be
noticable when navigating, not during startup.
Open your TasksManager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and sort your Processes (second tab)
by CPU to see what processes are using resources as IE starts up.
IMO, IE7 is slow to startup, but once loaded it appears quite quick. Usually
I leave an IE7 window always open and let my PC go to standby mode when not
in use.
One other thing that can slow startup is an on-line homepage. blank is
fastest, but you can also use a picture on your hard drive. I have some
installable local homepages at http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=homepages/
Regards.

Please define "long time".
How do you connect, dialup, cable, DSL or satellite?
What is the exact wording of the safety issue popup?
