For last few days IE7 opens minimised. When I click on it, the window shoots
up the the right hand corner of the screen and disappears. I have tried right
clicking and "restoring" or "maximising" to no effect. This means i can never
see an open window. Any ideas?

I have no idea, but... Have you tried to switch to the
minimised window with Alt+Tab ?

At the moment I can either have IE7 minimised or disappeared. It's the third
option, being able to see what is in the window, that I'm looking for.

Thanks anyway,

Paul

Have you tried starting it in No-Addins mode?

To start Internet Explorer 7 in "No Add-ons" mode, click Start, point to All
Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click
Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

Tried this just now. It has no effect on the problem.

Thanks anyway.

Do you by chance have multiple monitors hooked up to your computer?  If so,
it could be that IE is opening on a different monitor.

That is it! You were right. Problem sorted. A million thanks. You're a star.
