I have a community service site with a link that adds the events to
your outlook calendar.  The code behind the button works of this event
(onClick="document.all.Outlook.src='vCalendar.aspx?
participant0000....).  It has worked fine for years with previous
versions of IE.

When using IE7 this no longer functions.  Instead I am asked if I want
to open or save the ICS file.  I have to manually add the file to
outlook for it to show up.

Why is this different.  Is there a way to fix this?

thanks in advance,
gabriel

Hi Gaby,

That is the normal download prompt (all versions of IE, IE7 install resets
security zone settings to their new defaults, over-writing the previous IE6
settings). Check your download settings on the Security Settings of Internet
Options. Also in the same settings window, ensure 'Open files based on
content, not file extension' is enabled.

From your description of the process it appears that there is no problem
with the Respose content headers, but it resides in the clients security
settings. If this is on a corporate network you can easily deploy the change
by adding your intranet sites to the Trusted Zone on all clients (Group
Policy). I think that the desired behaviour wil be the default for the
Trusted Zones settings.

Regards.
