A student of mine brought his laptop for me to look at. When he's in Internet
Explorer he can't view background images or colors on his webpages. I've
looked through Tools, Options and tried a variety of things. It's the same in
Firefox and Netscape. I think this might be a registry issue. Does anyone
know what I might try in the registry? Any other thoughts?

Hi,
First check:
Control Panel> Accessibility Options> Display. Make sure that High Contrast
is not checked. Also click on Settings and uncheck Use Shortcut. That will
disable the Alt+Shift+Print Screen shortcut to High Contrast.

Then, Internet Options> General> Accessibility. For most users, nothing
should be checked.

Less likely... disable, as a test, third-party security, privacy,
ad-blocking programs. One
of them may be causing this. Turn on the windows Firewall (Control Panel>
Windows Firewall) before disabling a third-party firewall or security suite.

Hope this helps,
Don
