Hi

I have a PC with XP Pro, it connects to the Internet via a Wireless Router
which is connected to a ADSL Modem.

It was working well until two days ago when I updated from IE6 to IE7, now
the response just gets slower and slower, I mean that when I boot up and
connect it works well for about two minutes then it gets slower at loading
pages until after about five minutes it just dies, the same happens if I try
to download a file, the signal is still rated as excellent.
I have tried web based diagnosis of the problem but the connection does not
last long enough to complete the test.

I have two other PC's, with XP home and IE6 and they are still performing
very well.

Is there a known issue with IE7 and Wireless?

regards

If you eliminate the router and connect directly via the modem, does the
problem persist?

Hi

I am unable to do that, the modem is 50ft from the PC.

You might try, in order:

=> Starting IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;
or...

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:

=> Resetting IE7 Settings (RIES)

=> Check for and install any firmware upgrades for the router (and possibly
then reinstalling the router).

=> Check your MTU settings.  See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315008
(ignore the subject), paying particular attention to the third NOTE section.
Two very useful tools for this are the Tweak Test (followed by) Dr TCP, both
found here: http://www.dslreports.com/tools

And finally:

=> If you uninstall (a) IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6), (b)
all toolbars and (c) all third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds) and do NOT reinstall IE7, does this behavior persist?

Good luck.

I have to go away for 10 days, I will follow your plan
