One of your security programs may be blocking this.  What anti-virus and
anti-spyware programs are you using?

This happened to me and here's how I fixed it.

>Now.  I couldn't find a 350KB inetcpl file, and you might not either.
>So I went to another computer of mine that has a working IE7, searched

Don Anadel said that it might  have triggered
WFP(Windows File Protection) to overwrite my attempts by replacing the
file you are attempting to use with a cached version of inetcpl.cpl
file from C:\Windows\System32\dllcache.

In any event, it worked.

Thanks Bobby for taking the time to reply.  I have been having trouble with
my server and I am going to check my anitvirus progam, as suggested by Frank
Knight, and then if that's  not the cause I will do as you suggest.  Thanks
again for taking the trouble to answer my problem.

Now, what caused Internet Options to become unavailable?

Hi Frank, Thanks for replying.  I have been having trouble with my anitvirus
program ever since my server had a huge problem and I had no service in my
city for two days. I had F-Secure, which I've had for a couple of years now,
but it was screwed and I ended up getting Kaspersky, which has been OK, but I
still have the Internet Options problem... so what I will do today is have a
look at the settings and see if that's the cause and then if that doesn't do
it I'll try to do what Bobby Knight has suggested.
Thanks again

Hi Zoe,

I have the same problem, and I dont find anything that can correct that in
my anti-virus options.

Is there anything that can be downloaded from microsoft to correct that ...

would downloading internet explorer 7 and reinstalling it work?   I dont
think I have a copy of the file mentioned by bobby.

Hi Icafred,

I have actually fixed it today by reloading Internet Explorer 7.  I had to
disconnect my virus protection before doing it, but reinstalled it as soon as
it was done and it's now OK.

I hope this is a help to you too.

Regards
Zoe

You will have to uninstall it first.
Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs
