Any browser I use (IE, Firefox, Safari) will work for about 7 minutes after
logging on to Windows XP Home and will then stop responding.  When this
happens I cannot get to any http sites but I can get to https sites.

So far I have removed my virus software, reinstalled IE and Firefox, ran
Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad Aware and CCClean software.   No virus, worms or
other buggies exist.

The only way to get the browser working again is to reboot the computer.

This does not appear to be an internet connection problem.  I can download
e-mail to my e-mail client and I can successfully connect to my office
computer via VPN, as well as access https sites.  But http sites are totally
hosed up.

I've seen this problem described elsewhere on this message board as well as
on other places on the internet but nobody has a solution!  Please help!

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert.  **Post your log to

analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
