I have enabled ActiveX in my security settings, but I occasionally get the
warning "ActiveX Disabled" on a couple of websites.  As a result, I can't
view some of the content on those sites.  Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi Dawn,

Windows version? Which web sites?

There are planned changes to the way ActiveX controls are to be allowed to
run in IE7-8, but I am not sure if they have been implemented yet through
windows updates.

Does the Addon icon appear in the status bar when these ActiveX controls are
blocked?

Please post back with the web addresses where this occurs so that we can
test them.

Regards.

Thanks for your response.

We have Windows XP.

One problem website is: https://personal.vanguard.com/us/HomepageOverview

I will try to back track and see if I can ID the others.

I don't know what the "Addon Icon" is, but I haven't noticed anything other
than
a small window the the warning "ActiveX Disabled".

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for the link... it makes all the difference to troubleshoot.

Tools>Internet Options - Security tab.

Depending upon which zone you have placed vanguard.com (it is https, perhaps
it may be in your trusted zone)

Click the "Custom Level..." button and scroll down to the "ActiveX controls
and plugins" section

Check (or compare) your settings.
I think "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" should be enabled, "Download
signed ActiveX controls" should "Prompt" and  "Download unsigned Active
controls" should be disabled.

For secure sites (beginning with https:) you may prefer to place them in
your Trusted sites zone and just use the Default settings (click the
"Defaults" button) rather than alter the Default settings in your Internet
Zone).

I trust this will help.

Regards.

I have this problem with the vanguard site too - thought my browser
was hijacked, but not so sure now.
