My system (XP Home, SP3) has been hogged, running slower and slower, even
after registry cleaner and defrag ( using  Compu Rx and all its elements)
and I read that IE 7.0 takes less memory and CPU than Firefox.

Had been using Firefox since I.E. 5.0.

Time to return to I.E. 7.0 as my default browser.

Need to speed up my computer a four: year old notebook, 1.8 ghz, 512 ram
(2mb virtual via Mz Ram booster) 40 GB hdd with all programs on HD and all
files on external 120 GB hdd.

How can I import my cookies, passwords and other aspects of Mozilla into
I.E. 7.0?

There is Mozilla backup but will that backup file work to be imported to
I.E. 7.0?

Or is there not an easy way?

Thanks in advance,
Robert

Hi Robert,

I don't know of an easy way.... Have you tried FX beta 3. I believe there
are speed improvements, but then again that is subjective. Upgrading to FX 3
beta does not stop you downloading and using IE7. You can at least export
your Favorites from FX to IE and use IE for sites that do not render in FX.

Regards.

Maybe I will give FX beta 3 a go,  is it stable?

This is very frustrating, my system is as if honey is in everything.  Think
it is FX 2.0.0.14 that is causing it.  Just deleted from my system MS
Desktop Search, cleaned registry.  Defragged last week

I.E. 7.0 seems faster and unclogging of other software also.

??

Re: FX3

It is still beta, but there is a speed improvement, maybe because all of the
v2 extensions are not compatible. The same is probably true of IE. The more
add-ons you have the slower the browser will be.
At least with a FX upgrade you will retain all of your site logon
passwords...

Yes Desktop Search will slow your machine down... depending upon which CPU
you have... modern software is made for multi-core CPU's.

Hope you have backed everything up before starting to clean up.

Actually you may be interested in getting an external drive. I use Ceedoo
from Seagate which includes a sandboxed browser(IE6) and shell. For around
100 bucks you get 120 Gb with a fast, sandboxed browser and shell.

Regards.

Thanks:

XP home, SP 3, 1.8 ghz, 40 GB HDD-- C drive  only for programs,  external
120gb HDD for files, internal 512 ram using Mz Booster that supposedly gives
2MB virtual ram.  Set right click- My Computer> Advanced> etc., Performance
to 768 minimum and 768 maximum.
