I am attending an online course with the University of Phoenix.  They have a
link I am supposed to view but am unable to.  I contact their tech support
and they said they can access it and some of my other classmates as well.  I
shut down my antivirus/antispyware program and still I cannot access it.  I
have Windows Vista 32 Home Basic.  Any suggestions?  Here is the link:

"That doesn't work" does not explain what happens when you click on the URL.

The URL brings me to the Forums Login page with IE 7 and with Firefox 2.
The page asks for a Username and Password. Could be you're entering the
wrong Username or Password.

Wanna tell us what happens when you attempt to open the link (after
signing-in, which none of us can do to test it)?

when I click view, here's what I get:

http://classroom.phoenix.edu/afm202/secure/view-attachment.jspa?ID=10977487&mess
ageID=41124772&name=Video

by Foundation of Critical Thinking.htm&view=inline  (only the top portion of
the page shows)

and when I click download, nothing happens.

I don't know if you are able to view the http that I posted above

Did you right-click on the download link to look at its properties?
What does it point to?

Did you try right-click and Save Target?

Not without login credentials.

I tried to right-click and save target as but it only gives me an option as
an Htm.  Then when I try to open it, I can't

The link doesn't go to the media file.  It goes to a script that then
determines from where to retrieve the media file and then present it to
the browser as either a file or streaming data.  The only way to get the
content is to click on the link and let the server-side script do its
thing.  You could try to retrieve the .htm file for the link to see what
the script did inside of it.  If the script doesn't work, you'll have to
complain to the web site owner.  For some reason, they choose to make
you run their server-side script rather than giving you a direct link to
the file.

Some scripts won't work in IE and are actually designed not to work in
IE.  For example, the scripts used to retrieve the add-ons for Firefox
and Thunderbird don't work in IE7 but they do in Firefox.

As we can't log-in, no, we can't access the page

Critical_Thinking.htm

Do you have similar problems when attempting to view other online videos
(whether they play in WMP or not)?  Can you save the video to your HDD and
play it?

The apparent problem is I don't have a workable program to open .htm files
but I though IE 7 or Firefox would do the thing but they don't.  Any
additional suggestions?

Thanks.  Then there must be a glitch somewhere else.

Knowing how dense & inexperienced the UoP IT department is, I wouldn't doubt
it. <eg>
