Why is it that my local drives show up in Internet Explorer?  Is there any
way to stop this from happening?  It clutters up the urls that I use often.
Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

Because IE is closely linked in with WE.....and has been since IE6.....

I noticed a little different behavior

1. Open IE.
2. In Address bar, type in C:\ and hit enter

Expected (As per older versions of IE on XP)
IE becomes WE.
The Folder and files of c drive are displayed

Actual: (IE on Vista on my machine)
A window of WE launches and displays C Drive contents.
IEwindow still remains

Is there a setting/Registry tweak to change this Behavior?

Very true.  I am aware of this.  However, this didn't happen with XP.
There's got to be a way to make it stop.  Maybe Firefox is the answer.  Hey
Microsoft!  Anybody listening?

Open Windows Explorer and click on any link in Favorites drop-down menu to
illustrate how closely entwined Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are,
Killo.

I KNOW that they are closely related.  They have been that way since Windows
Millenium Edition.  That is NOT the question.  The question IS: "Is it
possible to NOT display my local drives in Internet Explorer running Vista,
IE7?".  A simple "Yes" or "No" is what I'm looking for.  If "Yes", how?
Thanks.

PA Bear, are you allowed to answer "No" to a question?
